Fancy a snack?
This Anglophone term has now entered into common use in many other national idioms, to indicate a “bite to eat quickly; tidbit; appetizer”.
Where does it come from though?
It most likely derives from the medieval Scandinavian languages: “snak” was probably an onomatopoeic term in which it was used with the meaning of biting (referring to dogs, however!).
Having come into use in the Germanic languages and their many variants, it soon ended up in the English vocabulary, and therefore on the other side of the ocean, where between the 19th and 20th centuries it became the “global” term that it is today.
So we said: snack means a quick and simple bite. As well as the Snack hood by Aluminox: a simple and quick-to-install extractor hood. The ideal choice for kitchens with low ceiling height, as its front profile is only 150mm: this allows installation by making the most of the available useful space.
Available with or without motor, lights and speed regulator. In AISI 304 or AISI 430.
Of course, you can definitively cook food more “elaborated” than a snack underneath!
