The Italian street food Panzerotto has quite a funny name.
It comes from “Panza“, which literally means “belly“.
And no. It wasn’t named like this as a warning of its abundant nutritional qualities.
Their shape, especially that swelling due to the leavening, reminded those peasant who first came out with the recipe a tummy.
Neverthless, a pizza dough pastry filled with tomato and mozzarella or other pizza toppings, and then deep fried, doesn’t have a small number of calories.
But c’mon… every now and again we can pass on counting calories and enjoy deep-fried food!
Yeah, ok… I sell fryers and stuff…
But I mean that!
