Chicken and “Auspicia”

The ancient Romans firmly believed in auspicia: observing natural phenomena and connecting them to the will of the Gods.

A very popular “auspicium“, especially in the event of a military campaign, was given by observing the behaviour of chickens.

They were thrown breadcrumbs: if the animal ate them, it was a good omen for the future.

If the poor bird wasn’t in the mood, if it changed its course, or flapped its wings, or simply did not move, then it was a sign of impending downfall for the Empire.

Cicero, a deep philosopher, as well as a wise and pragmatic man, once tried to make Generals and Consuls come to their senses: “Divinities do not need chickens to communicate with man“.

Apparently, he was unsuccessful, this tradition has remained in use until the fall of Rome

But the most important point is that the Inox Bim blast chiller/defroster has a temperature range that goes from -37° to +83°, thus allowing you not only to blast chill and freeze but also to carry out “low-temperature sous-vide cooking”.

Just like the chicken breast you see in the picture!
